This directory has two separate sections.
- A service directory for those that offer services to the 50+ demographic group.
- A skills bank for you to list your details, skills, photograph and biography.
These directories are a service to you and for you. The Skills bank directory is not a recruitment portal but rather a place where we can collectively bank the skills in our nation for paid, project and volunteer work. This is the first phase of a much bigger plan. Please add your skills and encourage your friends to do the same. Your skills are a vital economic asset in our Nation. After been unemployed for 7 months I went to a friend who introduced me to Manicure/Pedicures, Massaging I have practically done all my life with a huge family background it was the norm to massage one another every opportunity that arose.
I set myself up with stock, equipment and headed out into the big wide world of “owning your own business”, it became difficult and I backed out, I got employment which lasted 4 months! Physically no-one could keep up with that type of demanding pace!
So here I am back in business, my goal and dreams maybe far into the future, but this time there is no turning back! Bills will be met, new customers will be found and above all I will enjoy my new found freedom.

Ms Elaine DodgeContent Creator and Project Manager for Websites & MediaElaine DodgeCreative
I was born in Zambia, grew up in Zimbabwe and came to South Africa about 14 or so years ago. Retiring is not an option for me. Besides, I’d be bored very quickly. I had to start from scratch when I arrived in South Africa and not only that, but started a new career then as well. About 3 and a half years ago, I had another career change. It’s nerve wracking and exciting.
I had trained as a designer and after a few years in corporate environments I went freelance. I then moved into advertising and when I left Zimbabwe was Assistant Creative Director of the company. In South Africa, I moved into television production and was writer, producer and director for one of the largest television production companies in Johannesburg. From there I moved into wildlife television production where I was working for international broadcasters. Three years ago, nearly the entire company was retrenched. I decided to pursue freelance copywriting. Some of my clients asked me to handle creating new or revamping their websites, and as I had years of experience in both design, advertising and project management this was an easy addition to the portfolio.
